The Stars Of 2024 Product Advertising Campaigns

South African popstar Tyla for GAP's Linen Moves campaign

Placing celebrities at the forefront of your campaign is a smart move to get your message across quickly. Some of the best and most unforgettable ads featured stars and influencers we were all excited to see using products we use, or would like to use. Their presence motivates us to buy, and their association with the brand is beneficial to their career as well. An all-around win for everyone! Here are some celebrities who have been booked and busy.

“Michael CeraVe” - CeraVe Super Bowl ad

This comedic ad featured actor Michael Cera and took social media by storm due to its unexpected and witty nature. Collaborating with someone whose last name is similar to the name of the brand was genius. Before the ad, Cera was seen in public with bags of Cerave products, and in stores autographing Cerave bottles. That way, fans began to speculate and started affiliating him with the brand. Skincare junkies like myself are aware that the brand's name comes from the ceramides in each product - but, whether familiar or unfamiliar with the term, the strategy was a hilarious PR tactic leading up to the release of one of the best Super Bowl commercials.

GAP x Jungle - Linen Moves Campaign (feat. Tyla)

Known for her soulful music and energetic dance moves, rising South African popstar Tyla joined GAP to promote their new spring campaign. The collaboration is perfect as the style matches Tyla's signature Y2K aesthetic - effortlessly chic with muted tones. The video is a remake of British band Jungle's seamlessly choreographed video for their song Back on 74. Tyla is accompanied by dancers also wearing items from the linen collection. The video combines, fashion, dance and music to showcase just how well #LinenMoves. An iconic and unforgettable collab!

Born to Steal - Fenty Beauty by Rihanna

Lovebirds and industry celebrities
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky star in this glamourous, vintage-style short film for Fenty Beauty. Rihanna is seen "borrowing" her partner's attire and his Fenty Beauty Lux Balm. The story of a beautiful and charming bandit is an impressive way to promote the product. The visuals let us associate the product with elegance and class, and we know that it can be used by all genders - yours, mine, ours! The power couple knows their strong influence and continues to make us fall in love with their story. The Fenty Beauty marketing team does it again.

Thee Hottie State of Mind - NIKE

Rapper and fitness enthusiast Megan Thee Stallion is not only well-known for her lyrical music, but for her activewear and workout videos on social media. This isn't her first time teaming with NIKE, but the partnership has blossomed. Last month, the Hot Girl Systems apparel collection debuted, and this month, the new Hottie Lower Body and Hottie Core workouts will be accessible on the NIKE Training Club app. The ad is relatable, amusing and motivational - NIKE never fails to impress. I just might have to download the app, I've been influenced!

Lovely Day for a Guinness

Co-stars of the 2004 Sci-fi series Stargate Atlantis Jason Momoa and Joe Flanigan reunite for this Guinness St Patrick’s Day ad. The ad celebrates the Irish holiday, and what better way to do so than with an Irish beer brand? Momoa is seen excitedly making his way to a bar to announce to his friend (Flanigan) that he is part Irish (2% to be exact). The ad is comedic and action-filled with themes of friendship, celebration, and togetherness - an all-around success when it comes to putting St Patrick’s Day revellers in the mood for some Guinness beer. A lovely day for Guinness indeed!

Each brand delivers its message well through the use of themes, settings, and ambassadors who align with the core ideas of the brand as well as the personalities of its target audience. For each brand, the star used is a suitable role model for those willing to consume the brand - making these ads resonate and leading to a higher chance for purchases to be made. Once done correctly, a star marketing your product is the way to go!
